Cyclone relief and Cetana’s mission of education
We very much appreciate the contributions of $110,000.00 sent to the people of Myanmar through Cetnana for cyclone relief. With our partners in Myanmar we were able to put funds to work very quickly in order to make an impact at the time of greatest need. As Cetana continues its fundraising for its primary mission of education, we are also happy to continue receiving contributions to be used in the continuing rebuilding and replanting in Myanmar.
A letter from the board president.......
Dear Friends of Cetana,
In four months I will step down from Cetana’s presidency. It has been a fantastic experience, but now others must carry the torch. And this is the last time I will share with you the uniqueness of mission Cetana Educational Foundation carries, its extraordinary successes and its continuing need of your concerned friendship and support.
Cyclone Nargis devastated the Myanmar people. They have been challenged by unbelievable destruction and unprecedented need. Yet the people rose up to fill the wide gaps in Myanmar’s resources. We were especially moved seeing people overcome their usual ethnic barriers and minister to one another, taking food, clothing, rice and farming implements to the areas where all animals were lost, homes had been destroyed and families broken. This surely will encourage a civil society for the future. Leadership discovered in the recovery will be needed for the country’s future.
Cetana must now return to its primary mission p working in the educational sector to improve Myanmar’s leadership potential for the future. And for this we need your help.
Leadership training, Master’s level education, undergraduate liberal arts, English as a second language, dictionaries for children, libraries to be built, hope for the future! The growth of Cetana’s programs depends on faithful supporters like you. Thank you for your donation as generous as these times allow.
Thank you for your past friendship. Thank you for your ongoing support.
Stay well,
Jean Dickason
