The Cetana English Proficiency Center (CEPC) in Yangon, Myanmar, was founded in 1999 to provide training in academic English, critical thinking, research, and study skills. CEPC provides a daily, four-hour, intensive academic level English program, which is essential for success in study abroad as well as for finding better jobs in Yangon. The program has three 12-week terms. Class levels provide proficiency from intermediate to advanced. Highly experienced teachers lead the instruction and computers are also available for self-instruction. Fees for the program are modest.
Since its founding, over 1,500 students have studied at the Center and a good number of the students have continued their studies in colleges in Asia and the United States. Others go on to work in Myanmar, particularly in positions requiring English language skills with foreign corporations, in the hospitality industry, or with non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
